The trial of John Ryan (alias Bryant) and Darlington took place at the Old Bailey on 14th January 1784 the charges against the two men were Grand Larceny. They were tried before Mr. Justice Ashurst and the London Jury, they were both found “Guilty”. Each to be transported for seven years. John would have been probably around 20 years of age. John sailed on the Friendship with the First Fleet under the command of Captain/Governor Arthur Phillip.
Trying to locate John's parents. He married in the Colony and had four children, Elizabeth, Mary, John and Sarah. This could help in tracing his parents if he followed tradition, Elizabeth and John should be his parents. So John may have been born circa 1864.
Regards,
Janice
