I am trying to identify a place name on a marriage entry.
The marriage occurred in Mauchline, Ayrshire 20th June 1793.
The parties were Robert Rankin and Jean Weir.
Jean was from Mauchline, Ayrshire, but Robert is said to be from Egg(lesome)/(lisome)/(leborne)/(lehorne)/(lehome) or some other variant. If anyone has an 18th century gazetter of Scotland or similar, could they make a suggestion? Later gazetters do not contain this name. It may be a farm, croft, hamlet or village. |
