I am looking for any information in regards to the ancestry of ROBERT NUGENT, who was born in Kilkeel, County Down July 27, 1824. He moved to the United States in 1842 (I believe) and settled in Brooklyn, New York. He was the Colonel commanding the 69th New York Infantry during the Civil War and later served in various western forts. I know a lot about him from 1861 onwards but nothing of his prior history or ancestry. His father was also named Robert and was evidently a resident of Kilkeel and his mother's maiden name was Jane Moore. Any help is greatly appreciated.
