Would love to hear from descendents of the WARD, BURKE, DALEY and WATSON families from Tuam in Co Galway. Darby Ward married Winifred Burke and their son Patrick was born about 1782. Both Darby and Patrick were Smith/farriers. Nat Daley married Mary Watson and their daughter Catherine was born about 1789. The WARD family arrived at Sydney per 'Crusader' in 1839 - father Patrick aged 50, mother Catherine (a midwife), and their grown family - sons Patrick and Peter and daughters Nappy and Ann. Within 7 years only Catherine and Ann were still living. No further details of Catherine can be found. Ann - who was born about 1825 - married pardoned convict Cornelius Slattery and their lives are well documented in Australia. Life was tough in Ireland especially in the late 1830s and I imagine Patrick just wanted a better life for his family. Would love to find out more about their lives in Ireland. Regards Vicki
