Seeking Stanhope family in Ireland. George Stanhope, whose father was also George, married Rebecca Nesbitt in Shercock, County Cavan, in 1859 (C of I). They had five children who came to Halifax, Nova Scotia, with them: Mary Jane (approx. 1860), John Thomas, George, Martha Rebecca, and James. I'm a descendant of Mary Jane's. Would like to know whether George of Shercock had any siblings in Ireland. Family rumour is that he moved to Ireland with his father as a young boy and that there might be a military connection.
