I am searching for the parents and birth place of my gggrandfather John Smirl. He was born c.1808 in Ireland but we don't know where. He and his brother Archibald emigrated to Canada and settled near the St. Lawrence River, becoming farmers. I have been unable to find anything on the Smirl name (it's sometimes spelled Smirle) so any information would be appreciated.
