i am researching the Philipps fmily of Wales and have a family tree from 1800 giving my great great grandfather as Cpt John G Philipps.Royal Marines?(battle of Nile 1798)Married Frances Eliza Hawford on 1st Feb 1808 at St Mary's Portsea Hants.They had 15 children.John(died young)born c1812,Cpt Lloyd Philipps(Gurkha reg)born c1814,Cpt Griffith Philipps(RN)born c1816,Herbert Grismond Philipps born c 1818,and Georgiana Catherine Philipps born 1820 died 1897.The speculative birthplace of all these is given as Aberavon,Glamorgan.Birth dates of the 4 sons are also speculative.There were 10 other sons and daughters for whom i have no record.The sons said to have died early in life on active service.I would be very interested in any info on these.I also believe that my family tree(i am the great great grandson of Cpt John G Philipps)dates back to the 5th c AD,with connections to a Welsh prince of that time.There are connections to Glamorgan,Brecon,and ,particularly,Picton,in Wales.Thanks,Nobby
