Hi! I am looking for information on my 4th great grandfather, William Cope b. 1719, somewhere in Scotland or England. He fled Scotland after the Jacobite Rebellion in 1745 to Wurtenburg, Germany where he married Phoebe Ellsworth and migrated to the colony of New York. He fought in the French and Indian War for the British, and later for the Queen's Rangers in the American Revolution.
After this he and his family fled to Ontario, Canada.
I would like to know exactly where in Scptland William was from, and who his parents were.
