Name: Ann (nee) Hughes Dale.
According to the British 1881 census she was born at Wal, Nr.Ruthin, which I am guessing might be in Denbighshire, Wales. She was at the time of the census living with her daughter, Martha (nee) Dale and son-in-law Mathew Marsden and their family in Salford, Lancashire on Parish Relief. She is recorded as being 75 years old, making her approximate birthdate 1816.
Not much to go on I know but if anyone can help I would be most appreciative. |

Anybody researching ancestors who lived on Bardsey Island / Ynys Enlli, the tiny island 1.5 miles by 0.5 miles off the most western tip of North Wales? It is still populated by about a dozen people and little has changed over the last hundred years!
I have been researching the folk who lived there and have details of some 250 plus people that lived there in the late 1700's up to early 1900's. Plus other information of their mainland relatives giving 350+ folk in all.
I have a note that a David Richard was going to America early in 1831 - anyone trying to trace him?
Interested to hear from anyone else researching same.

My great grandfather Thomas Morgan from Glyntawe, was killed in a quarry accident in 1890 Penwyllt, his son - Thomas Morgan was born the same year.
My great grandmother was Rachel Morgan nee' Powell, it appears she did not bring up my Grandfather thomas, he was brough up by his Uncle David Morgan in Penwyllt
I do not know what happened to my grandfather Thomas Morgan between 1901 and 1922 when he was ordained in St Asaph he married daisy Boucher in 1929.
My great grandmother Rachel also disappeared, I believe she may have remarried a Thomas Francis Jones who was a gardener in Abercrave and they had 2 children named Catherine francis Jones and Doris May Jones. Can anyone shed any light on this mystery???
P.S.
My Great grandmother Rachel lived at a farm in Seven Sisters and we believe died 1947 Thomas Francis Jones could have been blind and died in 1938?? |

Hi Wales,
George Ernest Bird is my g. grandfather and I have hit the wall when looking for info on my Grandmother. She was born in 1897 to a career army man who I believe came from Wales, her mother we are told was a Scot. He died in the late 1890's and the 5 children were placed in either an orphanage or an army school just outside of Cardiff. My Gran did speak Welsh which seems to confirm that she was there for some time. There were 4 girls, Catherine Mary, Florence, Dorothy and Nancy. The only boy Thomas was still living in the area in the mid 1940's and he had children. Does anyone have any idea where I can start to look as they are nowhere to be found, no birth or 1901 census for any of them. The marriage cert: gives only her father's name and occupation and nothing else.
Have been at this point for years so any help would be very appreciated. From a grateful Canuk |

I am looking for the parents and siblings of my ancestor John Evans who was born in 1772 in Brynhynog, Bach, Wales. He mairried Mary Parry the daughter of John Parry (also of Wales) before emigrating to the United States in 1798. I would be interested in any marriage information on John Evans and Mary Parry or on either of their parents or siblings. John and Mary setteled in Oneida county New York after ther emigrated.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jocelyn Nield |
