Hi! I would like to invite all of you EDGE (and like surname) researchers to join us in this effort to link relatives around the country and around the world. The male DNA donor must be named Edge or similar spelling, but a female who is interested in the project may sponsor a relative. He must also not be adopted, nor should his near ancestors if it is known. (Of course, if one is trying to prove or disprove adoption, the test can do that as well.)

To learn more about the project, go to:
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/EdgeDNA/

To learn more about the general process, go here:

If you have questions, suggestions or other surnames you wish added to the project, please write me.

I have been searching many years for this line, with out much luck, it seems that the Griffiths family name is very comman in Wales. In my search, I have found a Griffiths family that come to the US in the 1600s and they were from the same area in Wales. An aunt and uncle even visited Wales, specifically, Cardiganshire,
Lampeter to seek information.

Subject: David John Griffiths

David John Griffiths, born, states family bible, Cardiganshire south Wales on 10/1/1830. Came to this county aprox 9-11 years old.Became a physician in Kentucky and served in the "Army of the Cumberland" as an "Assistant Surgeon". This is fact and documented. I have pictures of him at this time and a group shot of uniformed men.
Previous to Civil War, he married a Kate Wagner in Cinncinati, Ohio in 11/2/1852. They had a son, George Hilton Griffiths(b.12/2/1853 d.9/27/55)and a daughter, Augusta Georgia Griffiths(b. 2/11/1857 d.10/8/1892 Ky) while in Ohio. My relative, Arthur LLewellyn Griffiths was born in Mt Washinton Bullet, Ky on 5/18/1859.
Kate Wagner died at 30 years(1866)from cholera.
David died in Louisville, Ky on 3/20/1885.No record if daughter "Georgia" married, her death at 35 in Ky documented in Bible. Arthur married in Junction City, Kansas 8/23/1883 to Mary Elizabeth White of North Atteboro, Mass.
Arthur/Mary Griffiths settled in her family home in North Atteboro,Mass in 1884. Gertrude Irene Griffiths b. 9/3/1884 d.1954/ Mass. and a son, Frank Irving Griffiths b. 11/5/1886 d.10/13/1946 in Long Beach,CA.
I have some wonderful pctures circa Civil war and 1850's.
Family names;
W.Patton Griffiths (I believe to be nephew)
He was also a doctor. His sister, Anne M Griffiths
Dr L. J Griffiths and wife, Agnes(brother?)
Powell Griffiths, name found on the back of David Griffiths picture, David in uniform.
Hiltons (Kate's relatives
David and L.J. Griffiths pictured with a Dr.Peck.

I am looking for information about David Thomas who died 1717/18 in Philadelphia, PA. Some of his sons kept the name Thomas (ie. Thomas Thomas) and others took the last name David/Davis (ie John Davis).
I would like to correspond with others who are researching this family.
Thank you.
