| For many years I have been trying, to no avail, to find some information about my family. I was born in Swansea, Soth Wales in 1952, to John and Nancy (Winifred Josephine) nee Rippon Hammond. My father was born on the 30 April 1917. His fathers name was Charles Henry and his mother was Mary. My mother was born on 10 October 1918, I think. Her parents were William and Winifred Rippon. That is all the information I have, apart from we lived in Fleet Street in Swansea. If any can help please email me urgently at ianhnz@xtra.co.nz. Thank you, Ian. |

I wonder if anyone can help me please. I have been searching for my Father for some years now. My Mum and I tracked an address down in Cwnmbran,then Ebbw Vale,,but no luck. I have now heard that he could possibly be living in the Tredegar area,or surrounding areas. If anyone knows My Dad or knows of him,,or has any info at all,I would be extremely greatful for the help. Hello!
I am old to genealogy, but completely NEW to Wales. If there is anyone out there who can give a newbie a little assistance - I would surely be very grateful to you!
Precisely I am trying to find out what County and/or District oversees Cardiff? Also, would records for Cardiff (birth - 1870) be in the Newport District. I have found my Hannah Jane COLLIER born 9 Nov 1870 in and index for Dec 1870 Newport "M" (???) District Volume 11a page 196, but I haven't a clue what any of it means or if I've found the right record. Can anyone shed a little light on this for me??
I believe that Ponty Pridd (though spelled all one word on old family records) is in Aberdare? Is this correct?
I can't even seem to find a map on the web and all the names seem to have no vowels - I think I am having a little culture shock! Thanks for your kindness in responding! |
