I have just recently found what I believe to be my Mothers Father in the Ellis Island site. I have looked for 8 to 9 years and this is the first thing I have found that may just be him.His name was John Henry Ferguson,Born 1885. The Ellis Island site show one by that name and about the right age which would have been nine years old.And he would have come over on the Anchoria.And would have arrived 19 July 1893.The thing I can't see in that site was where he was going (which by what the family was told would have been Port Huron ,Mich.)and who he was with.
My Mom turns 82 this month and I would so love to be able to find her Dad.He was a very secretive man and did not tell family much about himself.Can anyone help me.With when that ship would have left Scotland or anywhere I might find more information on this.Thank you in advance. |

CRAIGIE, John born c 1808 seeking any information re this person. He arrived in Western Australia in 1831 He may have been a baker. Returned per "James Pattison" ship to Albany WA in 1834. Became a Publican there 1843-47. Marr Mgt WALKER Albany in 1842. On birth cert of my gr grandmother JANE CRAIGIE he is mentioned as "late of Perthshire".
And Mgt.Walker as of Glasgow. Their children were named Mary, Jane, John, James and Margaret. He died at Vic goldfields 1852. Will appreciate any help and thanks. Dympthia [any one know origin of my name?] |

I am wondering if anyone can help me find out if there is a James Canavan in the 1861 Census for Renfrewshire. He may be a widower. If not his wife was Catherine. They would have had at least 3 childrem. Margaret born abt. 1854 in Paisley. Mary born abt. 1856 in Paisley. and Andrew born 1858 in Paisley.
The problem is I am not sure what surname he may be using. It could be Canavin. Cavanan, Cannavan or Conway, Connoway or some variation of any of these. This rascal seemed to change names often.

| Please can any one help me to find my grandparents family. I was an orphan and am trying to piece together my roots. My Grandfather was called Robert Adam Brown Cord, He was a corporal in the BlackWatch and was killed in or just after 2nd WW in Gibralter. He left a Wife or Partner with two children My Grandmother I think was called Helen Wallace the children were called Ruby Cord and Thomas Brown Cord. My Grandmother I believed was dis owned by her family and alone with two children she could not I think bear life without the man she loved and no family support. She killed herself and I think is buried In Kirkcaldy Fife. Any information of any of my remaining Scottish family would be amazing. Thank You. |

I'm looking for any information on ancestors,
Angus McPherson who married Jean Davidson at
Alvie,Inverness, Scotland on 4th January 1827.
They had three children: Janet b.1828, Angus b.1829, Mary b. 1831 and James b. 1837. all born in Scotland. Angus Jnr. came to Australia
where he married Christina (McDonald) on 24th.
August 1863. It is Angus Snr. that I would like to find out about. His birthdate would be about 1800 ?? Who were his parents etc.?
Can anybody help with lookups in a census? |

I am looking for information on my husbands ggrandfather, William Hamilton, born 1849 in Staplestone,Glassfordshire Parish, Scotland. Married to an Elizabeth ?. Immigated to Canada around 1880.They had one son ,Adam, when they came to Canada he was 10 years old. I can't seem to find out Elizabeth's last name. Would also like to find William's parents, grandparentsor any info on the Hamilton family.
