I am researching the ELLIS Family that lived in
Dunfermline, Fife. William ELLIS was born Abt. 1780 and he married Janet/Jeannette ROXBURGH on
July 17,1810 in Dunfermline, Fife. Their son James ELLIS married Mary CRAM/CRAMM on May 20,1848. James and Mary ELLIS came to America in 1849 where he was a gardner for 15 years on Long Island, before he moved his growing family to Minnesota.
William and Janet/Jeannette ELLIS came to America in 1857 and William and Janet/Jeannette were listed on the 1860 Census for New York living with James and Mary. William ELLIS died on June 10,1869 on Staten Island. Janet/Jeannette ELLIS died August 18,1865 in Bayside, Long Island.
I would like to find out more about William ELLIS and his Family before they came to America and who his parents, siblings and other children were. I would greatly appreciate any help.
Sincerely,
Pam Ellis |

They are David Mathers believed to be a Surgeon, but not sure. His wife was Elizabeth Fleeming and they had 3 boys: Alexander John and David. |

Is there possibly anyone who could look up the pre 1855 Renfrewshire MI's for my great great grandfather Nathaniel Hendry. He was born in Ireland abt. 1787. He was listed with his family in the 1851 census in Houston & Killellan. In the 1861 census his wife Martha was listed as Head and she was living at No. 2 East Greenock. I am not able to find a death for him on Scotlands People and I believe he died between 1851 and 1855. Help would sure be appreciated.
Thanks, Nina Hart |

I am a decendant of ROBERT AND JANET AITKEN MCLEOD, who immigrated from Scotland to Nova Scotia, Canada in 1817, they had eight children. Robert and Janet lived in Dundrennan and then Auchencairn, Galloway, Scotland, they came with the Graham and Carson families arriving in June or July of 1817. I am looking to find any old photo's of this family or old letters, documents any old treasures like these, if you know of anyone or are able to help me, please e-mail me at jennill@cogeco.ca
