| Trying to get more information on my GGGGrandmother matilda Sutherland.She married a William Stevenson who was a schoolmaster and they were married in Caithness Latheron in 1838.She had a daughter to a John or George Farquhar named Jane in 1844 I don't think they were married.She also had a daughter Isabella in 1855 to a John Munro and they weren't married.Isabella was married to Peter Smith in 1873on the 8th Nov.Matildas parents were George Sutherland and Margaret Cochrane.Anyone of these names sound familiar to anyone.Thank You Norma Anderson |

Trying to find out about my Grandfather John Cockburn. He lived in or around Newcastle upon Tyne in England. He had a relationship with my Grandmother Hilda Slack and my Dad was born in 1919 to these two people, they never married.I know he was still in Newcastle in 1959 before we emigrated to Australia.I believe he may have been born in Scotland.Any one out their have anything I would appreciate it. John McDonald/Janet Grant were married Apr 1829 in Inverness. They had six children that we know of - Elizabeth(1830); William(1832); Isabella(1834); Alexander(1835); Janet(1836); Ann(1840). John was a Tenant in Easter Auchnagallen, not far from Grantown-on-Spey and all the children were born there. Janet came from Lynbreck, Abernethy, her parents being John & Janet Grant. John's parents are unknown.
In 1841 John sailed on the Whitby to NZ, to help settle Nelson with the NZ Company. His wife Janet, and William, followed in the Lloyds arriving in Nelson in Feb 1842. Am also trying to find out what happened to the other children. Is there anyone out there who maybe related via the other children? Were the clearances still happening then, or was there a fire or some other tragedy at the time which could've kill them? Many thanks from downunder in Auck, NZ.

Can anyone help locate a man named Joseph Beatty who was a petty office stationed in Londonderry N. Ireland during WW2. He had a relationship with my mother Ellen Williams I was born March 16, 1944. They shipped him out of Derry before this event happened as he was engaged to marry someone in Scotland. Any knowledge would be appreciated. Thanks a lot. |
