on June the 4th 1966 in Glasgow then split up a few years later any info would be great |

We have reached a brick wall. John McBurnie married Ann Irving, Jan 18, 1824, Maxwellton,Parish of Troqueer Dumfries. The parish record says he was "of Tinwald". He was Captain of the Lord Nelson, and was lost Jan 1, 1839 in the Shannon Estuary, Ireland.He has a Memorial in the Tinwald churchyard. His Children are:

Helen Oct 12, 1826 Married Thomas Coupland
John Nov 29, 1828 Married Mary Lawson (our line)
Jane/Jean Dec 23, 1831
James Oct 20, 1834 Married Margaret Glover
Thomas Apr 16, 1837 Died 1857
Samuel Jun 11, 1839 Died 1839
Under Scottish naming rules his father should be William and his mother Jane,as Thomas Irving and Helen Holmes are Ann's parents. Can anyone help? |

| My grandmother Janet Morrison was born in 1898 in Glasgow to Hugh Morrison and Janet McBeth. She was placed in an orphanage when she was about 5 years old. She didn't know why she was left there. She remembered her parents both bringing her there to drop her off. She was then placed with two different families around Glasgow before emmigrating to the US in 1922. Can't find any further info on her parents Hugh & Janet. Any help greatly appreciated. |
