BILL KINNES USA Jan 28, 2003
I am seeking information about my family roots and any relatives that I may have. Also, I would appreciate correspoding with anyone who reads this message regardless of whether or not you have any information about my family. Email address is bkinnes@cox.net.

My grandfather WILLIAM KINNES was born 19 Nov 1872 in DUNDEE. His parents were JOHN KINNES and JOSEPHINE BELL. They were married either 29 Dec 1871 or sometime in 1872. The GROS(General Records of Scotland)data cites 1972, but the Church of the Latter Day Saints records cite Dec 29,1871. They were married in DUNDEE.

My grandfather (WILLIAM KINNES) married in Scotland, then went to the USA. Not sure when. However, I am sure he had children in Scotland before he went ot the USA. The only record I can find of a WILLIAM KINNES marriage that might be him, is in 1895 to a JESSIE KERR FRAZER. THE marriage was in DUNDEE. He was still married when he left DUNDEE (without his family). Doesn't appear as if he had any sense of responsibility then or later in life. He died before I was born.

My grandmother, ANNE CARLESS (she was great), was born 4 Sept 1979 in DUNDEE. Not sure when she went to the USA. Perhaps she follwed him or he follwed her or they just happened to meet in the smallest State in the USA.

Her parents were PATRICK CARLESS and CATHERINE MCCARRIE. They were married 26 June, 1863 in DUNDEE. They were from Ireland.

My grandfather was divorced from his wife in Scotland on 10 July, 1916. He married my grandmother on 16 July, 1916 and got divorced in 1924. They had five children (four before they were married). One of them is still alive.

I would be very grateful for any information that I could obtain. Most likely I have some distant cousins from my grandfather's first marriage.

I will be going to Scotland in July, 2003 and if possible, would like to meet any possible relatives. I will not eat HAGGIS.

I should have done this along time ago. I made five trips to Scotland when I was in the submarine service. We were based in Holy Loch.
Unfortunately, because of our schedule, I did not have a lot of time to trace my ancestors, and the internet did not exist in 1961-1963.

All the people I met in Scotland were wonderful. I especially enjoyed going to the pubs on sunday and having a singalong.

When I think of my life, and some of the best times I ever had (excluding my family because family is best) the best things happened in Scotland. The Scots are the greatest people I have ever met.

I cannot help but remeber Scotland and I am looking forward to returning this summer. I rember drinking a very powerful beer. i believe it was calle Carlsberg Special brew. It was so strong, that I drank it with tomatoe juice.

If someone reads this message, but does not have any information regaring my family, I would still appreciate corresponding with them. I am in my 60's, and probably don't have much longer to live, since I have smoked Lucky Strikes (Nonfilter) for over 50 years.

I am trying to find out about my family (Kinnes) and any relatives that I might have.

The only information that I am sure about is the my Grandfather, William Kinnes was born in Dundee, November 19, 1872. His Father's name was John Kinnes, his mother was Josephine Bell. The GROS record indicates they were married in 1872, but the LDS records cite Dec 29, 1871 as their date of marrige.

My grandfather apparently was quite a character. He was married in Scotland, had children, and then went to the USA.

He had four children with my grandmother before they finally married in 1916,and then divorced in 1924.

My grandmother was also born in Dundee, on Sept 4, 1879. Her name was Ann Carless. Her parents names were, Patrick Carless & Catherine McCarrie (married 26 June, 1863)

The only marriage record I could find that might be my grandfather is a 1895 marriage of William Kinnes & Jessie Kerr Frazer in Dundee.

I am assuming that I probably have some cousin's in Scotland. Not too likely that any Uncle's or Aunt's are still living.

Would appreciate any help or information that someone might have.
